Course Overview
The "Introduction to Events Planning and Management" is an eight-day training programme designed to provide participants with an initial introduction to the events industry, followed by an overview of the core principles, processes, and planning functions involved in event delivery. The course aims to be inclusive, accessible, and person-centred. It is tailored for young people and emphasises developing a range of transferable skills using dynamic, engaging, and interactive training methods.

Week 2 -
Participants develop their own event concepts and designs from the learning from week 1
The group work together to come up with an agreed team structure
Planning work and documentation is completed in the following areas - (Project Planning, Budgeting, Marketing, Health & Safety, Layouts, Resources, Staff/ Volunteer Planning and Evaluation)
The course culminates with the full delivery of a live event, fully led and managed by the group

Final Event and Placement Details
Final Event: The focus of week two was the full design, planning, and delivery of an event project hosted on the final days of the course. Participants formed an events team, split into subgroups, and took ownership of the structure based on their motivations, skillsets, and experience.
The group successful designed, promoted and delivered a fashion show in The Meadows. Members of the public and students had the opportunity to design their own t-shirts at the 'Sustain & Slay' event which aimed to promote sustainable fashion through teaching people about upcycling clothing practices.
From feedback we know that event delivery made participants feel "super confident," and they felt great about "finally delivering it and having done it".
Work Experience (Placement): The training programme incorporates high-quality work experiences. The September 8th course included a day's work experience as part of the Edinburgh Kiltwalk.
